Over at Revision3 you can find Pixel Perfect, instructional videos by Burt Monroy. He’s the  Photoshop expert. He’s written books about using Photoshop and has created award winning  paintings just by using computer software. The videos are informative and entertaining. As  you watch you think, “Wow, that’s neat. Didn’t know you could do that.”

Not many people can afford Photoshop. It’s more than $600 at Amazon. I had used Gimp, it’s  free, but it has a high learning curve. (It took awhile to figure how layers work.) It can  probably do everything Photoshop does but who has the time to learn. Today, I’m trying  Gimpshop, also free. It does look more like photoshop and there is a lot to play with. So far  mediocre success. I can believe I have a future with it.

Burt Monroy also uses Illustrator. Can’t afford that either. So, I use Inkscape -it’s free.  It does a great job.

Now I’ve just heard about Microsoft’s Creature House Expression 3. They are giving it away.  It’s like a combination of Adobe’s Photoshop and Illustrator. What’s a nerd to do?
