Symantic Improves Its “Security Suite”
When I repair a computer to make it leaner and faster, Norton is removed and replaced with Grisoft’s AVG. Symantic’s Norton use to be everyone’s favorite antivirus software. But, for the last several years it has gotten too big and uses too many system resources.
Finally, someone at Symantic has taken notice. Walt Mossberg at All Things Digital from the Wall Street Journal has done a review of Symantic’s rewritten “Security Suite.” It seems to be on the right track and businesses should probably use it. However, for the personal computer, I’d still use Grisoft’s Free AVG and Spybot’s Search and Destroy, because to use the improved Security Suite, it will cost you $70 to buy and $60 every year for a renewal.

And in my tests, this new product, Norton Internet Security 2009, largely succeeded. It isn’t perfect, but it is the fastest, simplest and least obtrusive security suite I have ever used.
